The functional requirements of the cooperative enterprise Agri ‘90 find a suitable answer with the building of a new mill north of Ca' Rossa di Storo, in the province of Trento. The project choices concretize the focus that the cooperative has always put on the conservation and enhancement of the Valle del Chiese landscape, by resuming the cultivation of large areas that otherwise would have been abandoned. Several buildings divided by function, make up the ‘factory' in pursuit of a suitable scale with the landscape. The vertical development with the differentiation of materials and the adoption, in the upper parts, of translucent elements and vertical wooden blades, make the buildings lightsensitive, dynamics and changeable depending on the different vantage points from which they are observed. The local roots with the territory and its history are sought for through the use of traditional material and building techniques, reinterpreted with contemporary style. The desire to express the features and qualities of contemporary architecture finds in the constructive and formal foundations of traditional architecture an important point of reference. By so doing, the memory of a territory is not reduced to a mere recollection but rather becomes a privileged project tool that makes it possible to see the depth of that which exists, conjecturing its transformation through the construction of new landscapes in continuity with the existing ones

The production facility has been built by taking care to structure the significant volumes involved into several buildings. This choice made it possible to effectively relate the construction to the scale of the landscape in which it is placed. The compositional choices, the predilection of translucent elements and the widespread use of wood reinterpreted in a contemporary fashion ensure a good integration into the landscape and a proper relationship with the place and its history.
